How’s Magento?
Okay, only list the features are not further enough, I’ve tried to install Magento commerce software and I admit this is a real amazing product for the ecommerce website. Magento is easy to get on with and you don’t need to have script knowledge and there’re numerous themes for you to make choice. Of course, if you’re a professional website designer, you can design the featured theme with yourself. Magento is one powerful, easy to start with and very good for the new starters.
Magento Vs. PrestaShop – Who’s better?
Yes! In order to compare the 2 open source ecommerce softwares, I’ve downloaded the 2 applications separately and install with my own. PrestaShop is also a very good ecommerce application, but compared with Magento, I found it still has some weak points. As you see, I found the images of the homepage is a bit small and there’re few themes for PrestaShop. At present, if you’d like to select one ecommerce application from Magento Vs. PrestaShop, I suggest you can try to start with Magento.
If you’d like to start a new ecommerce website with Magento Commerce, you need to search for a reliable web hosting to host it first. As you see, I’ve reviewed dozens of web hosting companies and here I’d like to recommend the 2 reliable Magento Commerce web hosting: Arvixe Vs. PacificHost
- Arvixe LLC. is a featured windows & linux web hosting service provider. If you’d like to host Magento website, you just need to sign up their linux hosting plan. Arvixe offers unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, multiple websites hosted, free domain registrations.. Arvixe linux hosting starts from $4.00/Month.
- PacificHost is one of the most famous Linux-based platform web hosting service provider in the industry. Till present, PacificHost is hosting more than 2,00,000 domain names on their web servers already. You are right but Magento is a resource hog, so you better not only have
a good host but get ready to get a VPS or a Dedicated server if your shop
is going to be a large one. Also Magento is too complicated for small shops
in the order of 10-200 products.
I find this post far too subjective, because the two shopping cards have two different targets:
While Prestashop is far easier to learn and maintain, magento has more of a enterprise feel,
for simple (90% of the shops) webshops, i can recommend Prestashop over Magento by far, because magento is a nightmare to learn for clients.
And magento needs a lot more resources and computing power, since it’s backed by ZendFramework.
However, for enterprise shops where you need a lot of flexibility with hundred-thousand of articles ecc. and computing power is not a problem, since you’re running a dedicated server (ore more than one =D ), then magento is your choice.
Cheers
I always prefer presta, it realy easy to use, one thing that additinal modules costly
I use Prestashop almost exclusively now. Their recent 1.4 release has brought some excellent features to the table like ‘one step checkout’. It’s also easy to design and code for, so definitely recommended by me.
If I had the time though, I would love to learn Magento though.
Having used both, Prestashop is simply a lighter, cleaner shopping cart with less restrictions and has all or more in terms of features and functionality…and with better performance. Prestashop is now used by over 90k sites according to their site; that rivals Magento, and in a shorter period of time. Prestashop’s forums have over 270K members which provides unbelievable support and insight into what and how to work with the software. The number of modules available is staggering and in our experience there simply isn’t anything that cannot be done.
